If I had to pick out a brand that I’d imagine Maria Sharapova collaborating with for a fashion line, it would probably be something like Nike. Oh wait, maybe that’s because she already has a Maria Sharapova for Nike collection involving sportswear. The blonde, leggy tennis star with Nike is an easy pair to picture. Cole Haan and Sharapova is another thing.
I’m not saying the gal isn’t stylish, but I was definitely a bit caught off guard when I heard about the new Maria Sharapova Collection for Cole Haan. Sports and fashion don’t always go together well, but I’ll admit that I’m impressed with what the duo has produced.
In an interview with Style List, Sharapova elaborated on her excitement about the project:
“Designing has been a great new component of my life. I’m known as a tennis player, but collaborating with Cole Haan is an opportunity that I am excited to embrace. I love the creative process, from the initial sketches to seeing the final product.”
The mini collection of satchels, clutches, hobos, boots, heels and ballet flats is not overwhelmingly original, but I like what I’m seeing here. The prices aren’t too bad either. The bags range from $248 to $428, while the shoes are priced between $138 and $328.
The Maria Sharapova by Cole Haan line officially launches today but is already available for purchase on Cole Haan’s website. The items should be in stores this fall.
