eBay is often regarded as a hotbed of counterfeit handbags, but the popular auction site is fighting back with the help of some prominent fashion designers. Its Fashion Vault is currently filled with affordable tote bags bearing the slogan “You Can’t Fake Fashion.”
The totes have been customized by a who’s who of the fashion industry including Calvin Klein, Judith Leiber, Anna Sui, and Badgley Mischka. However as they’re made of canvas, they don’t cost anywhere near as much as the designers’ regular accessories.
The customized totes cost $150, but if that’ll bust your budget you can always choose one of the unadorned You Can’t Fake Fashion totes for $35. All monies raised will benefit the Council of Fashion Designers of America, a non-profit trade organization which looks to advance the status of America’s fashion industry and raise artistic and professional standards. Clearly it’s a group that really cares about company trademarks and protecting the intellectual property of its designers.
There are just 50 of each personalized designer tote available, so if you’ve got your eye on one I suggest acting now as some have already sold out! They’ll be available until 9 pm on August 8th, or until stocks last.
