Si:su Uses Vintage Materials for Eco-Friendly Handbag Collection

33 sec read

Three women from Wales are delivering a different kind of vintage handbags with their Si:su label. The unusual moniker comes from the Finnish word for perseverance or strength of will, something the Si:su girls have in spades. Their collection features one-of-a-kind purses made from repurposed vintage materials, alongside apparel, jewelry, and belts.

Everything is vintage here, from the cotton, silk, and linen fabrics right down to the buttons and thread. This is recycling taken to the extreme, although these pretty purses definitely don’t look like hand-me-downs. Every bag is made in South Wales from fabrics sourced from textile recycling plants within 40 miles of Si:su headquarters to stimulate the local economy and reduce the carbon footprint.

Si:su combines classic handbag shapes with quirky details, including embroidery and appliqué, to create purses which are feminine and truly original.  They are available from a range of environmentally friendly online retailers including Green Trading.
