After much hype and industry buzz, we can finally feast our peepers on the new Chanel ads starring edgy pop princess Lily Allen. She’s a self-confessed Chanel addict, but Lily’s cheeky style was never a natural choice for the sleek fashion house.
Yet somehow it all works, with Lily’s irreverent presence giving these ads a healthy dose of humor. Lily looks inspired by Audrey Hepburn circa Breakfast at Tiffany’s with her diamond tiara, dark sunglasses, and sweeping up-do. But despite her vintage makeover, Lily is far from demure and her vivacious spirit shines through.
It’s just as well, because the Coco Cocoon bag she carries is no ordinary Chanel purse. The reversible handbag is contemporary rather than classic, just like Lily herself!
I wasn’t convinced when Lily was named the new face of Chanel, but now the results are in front of me I couldn’t be more pleased. Ms Allen may be just the girl to help the brand shake off the cobwebs!
