Lauren Bush Releases Guatemala FEED Bags to Help Starving Children

Lauren Bush’s collection of FEED accessories has just expanded with the launch of Guatemala bags.

As the name suggests, the brightly colored totes and zippered pouches are the result of a recent collaboration with Guatemalan artisans. Each bag is crafted with traditional handloomed Ikat fabric made in conjunction with Nest. This non-profit organization looks to empower female artisans through its mentoring programs and interest-free microfinance loans.

We’re used to the FEED bags benefiting hungry communities in need, and the Guatemala purses are no different. Sales of the FEED Guatemala 1 and FEED Guatemala 3 bags will help UNICEF provide daily nutrient powder for one Guatemalan child, and three Guatemalan children respectively for one year. This work is particularly important as chronic malnutrition accounts for up to half of all deaths of the world’s children under five. Good nutrition is necessary for intellectual and physical development.

The Guatemala FEED bags are available exclusively through Lord & Taylor. The small pouches cost just $19, while the large totes are $39.
