As creative director for Hermes, Jean Paul Gaultier produced one of the world’s most revered handbags: the Birkin. Now he’s applied his Midas touch to water bottles! Evian has teamed with the acclaimed French designer to produce two limited edition bottles. These beautiful creations are definitely not something to put in the trash once you’ve quenched your thirst!
The first is the Pret-a-Porter, a sleek creation embellished with interlocking snowflakes and oversized blue lettering. You can preorder one of these collectible bottles for $13.95 from the Evian online store.
$13.95 might seem exorbitant for a bottle of water, but it’s small change compared to what you’ll pay for the second bottle: the Haute Couture. As the name suggests, this is the crème de la crème of water bottles. Only seven of these exclusive bottles will be produced worldwide. Expect them to fetch a tidy sum when they’re auctioned next year.
But it’s not simply a money-making exercise. All funds raised from the sale of the designer bottles will benefit the RAMSAR organization, a group which looks to protect the Earth’s water resources.
