Giles Deacon Confirmed as Ungaro’s New Creative Director

35 sec read

After weeks of speculation, Giles Deacon has just been confirmed as Ungaro’s new creative director.

Deacon has an impressive resume, working in the past for Bottega Veneta and Gucci before launching his own line. He’s known for his vibrantly colored avant garde designs which play with prints and proportions.

Hopefully his energy can bring new life to the brand which has suffered since its namesake Emanuel Ungaro retired in 2004. But to turn things around he’ll need to stay a little longer than recently departed high profile employees Lindsay Lohan, Mounir Moufarrige, and Estrella Archs. With the company losing four creative directors in the last five years, I’ll bet the brand’s bigwigs are crossing their fingers!

It seems Deacon’s got the right attitude though, stating in a recent interview with Vogue UKhopefully we’ll make it really interesting and relevant for people.

We’ll find out whether Deacon achieves that goal when his first Ungaro collection launches in Paris this October.
