Fashion Designers Make Newspaper Fashions for Yesterday’s News | Recycled Paper Gets Stylish

NewspapersNewspapers needn’t become landfill once the stories get old. Yesterday’s News makes cat litter from old editions, and it encouraged fashion designers to create stylish ensembles from the same unlikely material.

Samantha Pleet, Bahar Shahpar, Lara Miller, and Anthony Lilore of Restore Clothing accepted the challenge and showcased their original outfits at the recent Green catwalk Event and Workshop in New York City.

I was pleasantly surprised by these newspaper fashions. While I’m not sure whether I’d wear any of those outfits outside, especially in wet weather, I can definitely imagine carrying one of those cute purses! I just wonder whether they’d be strong enough to hold all my daily essentials!

If you love the avant garde looks of these newspaper apparel and purses, they could be yours. Each outfit is currently up for auction on eBay, with proceeds going to charities chosen by the designers. In addition, Kiva, Riverkeeper, The Land Connection, and Trees for the Future will also receive a sizable $6000 donation from Yesterday’s News.
