Fair Trade Earth Divas Label Turns Hemp Into Modern Eco Handbags

37 sec read

Earth Divas has just launched a stylish new environmentally friendly line. The Modern Eco Handbag Collection lives up to its simple name, with contemporary Western styling meeting green Eastern heirloom fabrics.

Each bag is made from tightly woven hemp, which offers structure and strength. The purses are hand-sewn by cottage industry producers and women’s co-ops in Kathmandu, Nepal. The bags are made following fair trade practices. Each worker is paid 30% more than the local wage for their efforts, and all the profits are given back to the artisans.

The spring/summer Modern Eco Handbag collection features a range of handbag including hobos, totes, satchels, and flap bags. The styles are very casual and not at all luxurious, but that makes them very appropriate for this relaxed season. Having said that, they look a lot more stylish than the shapeless sling bags that hippies peddle at the markets!

The new Earth Divas handbags are available in a range of eco-clothing stores in the United States and online at EarthDivas.com.
