New York label LAYERxlayer reminds us that bigger isn’t always better. By keeping its operations small, design team Patrick and Leah offer the kind of attention to detail that the major labels often miss.
Patrick’s background in architecture and Leah’s in industrial design combine to create bags and other accessories which are functional and elegant. They’re the kind of handbags that are made for everyday use, and while they probably won’t turn heads you’ll find yourself reaching for them time and time again.
LAYERxlayer is a label that cares about its carbon footprint, so the denim twill and cotton canvas used in its handbags is grown, spun, and dyed locally in the US of A. The designers then handcraft each item to ensure its quality.
“We use the highest quality materials to ensure that what we design will get better with age, as most things worth holding on to should,” the designing duo explained. “We’re not concerned with trends or nostalgia; we care about quality and craft.“
You’ll find LAYERxlayer’s bags from $40 at the label’s Etsy store and Supermarket.
