Big on style and substance, canvas tote bags are the ideal everyday accessory.
The tote bag’s style is all about simplicity. A standard tote resembles a paper grocery bag with one large rectangular compartment. Modern totes occasionally feature organizational dividers or small pockets, but this is the exception rather than the rule. Most have an open design for easy access, although often you will find totes with secure zippers, ties, or magnetic closures at the top. They feature one or two short straps for carrying in your hands or slinging over your shoulder.
Tote bags are made from a range of materials including leather, denim, plastic, and silk. But my favorite, and one of the most popular, is canvas. As tote purses are intended for everyday use, this durable cotton material is ideal. Canvas may be a plain fabric, but that makes it perfect for displaying colorful prints or fun slogans on the tote’s large flat sides.
Stains and spills are no match for canvas totes. Throw them in the washing machine with a mild detergent on a gentle cycle and they’ll come out as good as new!
Uses for Canvas Tote Bags
Totes will always have a special place in our hearts because they’re so versatile. Students love using them as book bags or lunch bags. As we grow we find they’re a fun way to carry files to the office or swimming gear to the beach. They’re also a fashionable alternative to a regular diaper or gym bag.
As we all become a little more environmentally conscious, more and more shoppers are using canvas tote bags to carry their groceries. They’re readily reusable, and easy to clean when meat leaks or frozen foods thaw.
