Vivienne Westwood Creates Environmentally-Friendly Climate Change Handbag for AmazonLife

33 sec read

Vivienne Westwood has given her iconic bowler bag an eco-friendly makeover for a new climate change awareness campaign. It’s a cause close to the heart of the designer, who has participated in G20 protests and interviewed scientists and environmentalists about the issue.

The Yasmine tote is part of a new accessories line for AmazonLife, an organization which looks to protect the Amazonia basin. It’s crafted with organic canvas and finished with Treetap rubber. +5° is printed on the front in water-based ink. This figure is a sobering reminder of the amount the earth’s temperature has increased due to pollution and deforestation.

The collection, which also includes pieces from Evisu, Braccalini, Gherardini, and even Looney Tunes, promotes the message that “fashion can be eco-friendly.” All bags feature recycled or natural fabrics including juta, linen, coconuts, straw, and feathers.

The handbags will be available through the AmazonLife website and each designer’s boutique outlets.
