Sugar and spice and all things nice dominate Louis Vuitton’s new spring 2012 advertising campaign.

The pastel color palette and ultra-feminine styling make this one of the prettiest advertisements I’ve seen in some time. I thought nothing could beat the puppies we saw last season, but the picture perfect ice cream sundaes book-ending Daria Strokous and Kati Nescher might just do it.

Steven Meisel was behind the camera to capture Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs’ vision.

It is all very soft and very sweet, yet at the same time very bold and very graphic,” Jacobs told Women’s Wear Daily.

In fact, all that sugariness is almost enough to give you a toothache! I think the handbags save the commercials from being too saccharine though. Their pale colors suit the overall aesthetic of the image, but they’re blissfully free of flowers, ruffles, sequins, or other girly accents. I’m not saying these are my favorite Louis Vuitton bags, but they effectively temper all of the fluff we see in the commercials.

We’ll see them in our favorite fashion magazines next February. Do you like Louis Vuitton’s ultra-girly spring campaign, or would you prefer to see the fashion house offering a bit more edge?
