Clint Eastwood's daughter Francesca Fisher-Eastwood has earned the ire of handbag lovers everywhere after destroying a crocodile Hermes Birkin bag.
Apparently the Hollywood heir, who currently stars on the reality series Mrs. Eastwood and Company, worked with her photographer boyfriend Tyler Shields on the stunt. They bought the bag, which retails for $100, 000, then sliced it in half with a chainsaw before setting it alight.
I suppose the attention-seeking duo got some cool photos out of this handbag murder. They shocked some people, and perhaps they even made some sort of artistic statement about consumerism. But when so many people are struggling to make ends meet around the globe, this kind of vandalism seems particularly stupid.
It might not have attracted the same attention, but perhaps if the pair had money to burn they should have donated it to a charity. I'm sure any non-profit organization in American would have gladly accepted what they spent on the Birkin. I say all this with just a hint of jealousy that a 19-year-old can afford a crocodile Birkin bag, let alone afford to buy one just to destroy it.
I have way too much respect for Mr. Eastwood to suggest he hasn't raised his kids right, but this sort of waste is hard to fathom.
