October may be Breast Cancer Awareness month, but White House, Black Market wants us to remember that women are dying of this terrible disease all year round. The label has just released its Give Hope tote to raise funds for women afflicted with breast cancer.
This is one unashamedly girly little number, with its red rose design and crystal-studded satin bow. Perhaps the combination of the flower, bow, and faceted jewels is overkill, but I’m sure that many girls will lap up this brand of excess.
A portion of proceeds from these $48 tote bags will benefit Living Beyond Breast Cancer. This national non-profit group helps empower women affected by breast cancer.
It’s a great cause, so I wish White House, Black Market was more transparent about exactly how much the charity will receive. The fashion house has committed “up to $250, 000” to the altruistic organization, but that doesn’t really shed any light on what “portion of the net proceeds” will be donated. Still, at least we know that something will reach the people who need it, which is more good karma than we get from most bag purchases.
