Handbag lovers hoping to get their hands on Vera Wang’s purses will have to wait a little longer.
The famed wedding gown designer has put plans for a handbag line on hold, at least until the global financial situation improves.
“I didn’t want to launch a bag line in this economy,” the designer told WWD.
But there is a silver lining for Vera Wang fans: she’s still planning to release a sexy collection of shoes.
While that’s certain, the future of her contemporary Lavender Label is less sure. Last week the rumor mills were buzzing that the designer had abandoned the venture altogether. But Vera assures us that the speculation is a little premature.
She calls the label a “work in progress,” adding that it may morph into something new, whether it is licensed, repositioned with a new pricing strategy, or transformed into a dress line.
I guess we’ll all just have to wait and see … and start saving our pennies for those Vera Wang heels!
