Few materials say warm weather quite like linen. The light, breezy fabric is ideal for sunny spring and summer days. However, I have my doubts when the texture is bogged down with too much color or other details.
For instance, this SR Squared by Sondra Roberts Patchwork Linen Satchel is a tad overdone, in my opinion. I couldn’t even tell at first glance that the material was linen. Though it’s very similar to the Lucky Brand Patchwork Tote, somehow the look works better on the Lucky bag’s suede. Personally, I prefer summertime linen in a natural-looking form without too much going on to compete with the texture.
Splashes of color on patchwork handbags can look great. However, the number of colors combined on this purse is slightly overwhelming even with a few muted hues thrown in. Also, it seems that everything on this Sondra Roberts bag has a metallic sheen to it, from the linen patches to the gold-tone chainlink strap.
One plus of the patchwork linen satchel, though, is that its lack of leather has kept the price down to only $85. This style of handbag offers plenty of roomy inside to carry things around as well, even if there isn’t a bottom panel for support when setting it down.
If bold, shiny, and bright is what you’re going for, this SR Squared satchel is a great option. If you love the patchwork and chain combo but prefer something less colorful, try the B. Makowsky Cairo Shopper instead.
