In this video, Rebecca Minkoff walks us through her upcoming spring 2011 collection.
The line features her traditional bestsellers, including the Morning After Bag (MAB) and MAB mini, but there are also some fresh shapes and colors for the season. I particularly like the slouchy Seduction bag and the clean Swing purse, but there’s enough variety that everyone’s bound to have their own favorites.
I’m less enthusiastic about the new studded finish, which really takes the metal discs to the extreme. It just seems a bit too trend-conscious for my taste, the sort of detail we’re likely to love one minute and tire of by the season’s end.
The new circular quilting is very cool though. Ever since Chanel made diamond quilting so iconic, it seems other designers have been replicating it. Here Rebecca Minkoff builds on that classic base and takes it in a new modern direction.
This video is a great tool for promoting her new collection. Certainly it makes more sense than those artsy short films so many labels have produced of late!
