Patricia Field and MCM Handbags seems like a bit of an odd couple, but the flame-haired fashion icon has joined forces with the conservative German label for a collection of handbags.
It may seem like it’s come out of left field, but Field has been great friends with MGM’s artist Martine since the 1980s. Many of his works proudly hang in her New York home, and it seems the admiration is mutual.
This sketch gives us out first indication of what’s in store. The purses have MCM’s typical conservative structure with an added dash of whimsy. They’ll be available in leather and canvas in a choice of army green, cognac, and black shades. The choice of fabrics sees the MCM by Patricia Field bags priced between $300 and $1500.
After MCM’s recent relaunch, the collaboration can only spell good news for the German brand. It needs something to put it back into the spotlight, and Patricia Field’s flamboyance always attracts attention.
While it’s all intriguing on paper, we’ll have to wait and see whether this partnership is as exciting as it sounds. There’s no word on a release date yet, so look out for them at your local MCM and Patricia Field boutiques.
