The folks at new eco-friendly shopping portal Mission Savvy believe that fashion really can change the world. Launched this month, the online boutique features an eclectic range of fashion items created by environmentally conscious designers.
The items are grouped into five collections, each with a different social issue attached. A portion of the profits from each line benefit a related charity.
The casually feminine Dream collection supports the Performing Animal Welfare Society in its work liberating chained animals from circuses. The minimalist Compassion range works with the Jakarta Animal Aid Network to protect animal from abuse, neglect, trade, and exploitation. Proceeds from the modern Freedom range go to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine to support its work in eradicating cruel animal testing procedures in the fields of medicine and science. The boho-inspired Instinct line gives to Defenders of Wildlife and Wild Care Cape Cod. Both organizations are committed to protecting wildlife in their native surrounds. The gym-ready Voice line helps rescue and protect animals from inhumane farming practices, with proceeds benefiting Farm Sanctuary.
There aren’t a lot of bags available at present, but it’s early days. I’m looking forward to watching this innovative shopping website grow in the future.
