Mulberry is celebrating 40 years in the fashion business with the release of Mulberry The Book, a tome which commemorates the label’s place in the industry.
Mulberry enlisted famed photographer Venetia Dearden for the project. She trailed Mulberry staff for the last three years, capturing them working at the factory and on photo shoots, and putting their best foot forward at the world’s leading fashion shows.
It’s interesting that Mulberry has chosen to mark its anniversary with a book that celebrates its place in the contemporary fashion industry, rather than offering a retrospective of the last four decades. The photographs of fashion shows and advertising shoots have an element of glamour to them, but the book is really rooted in the everyday aspects of running one of the world’s leading fashion labels.
It’s an interesting approach, and one I’m sure Mulberry hopes will separate its book from all the other fashion label exposes on the market. It’s available for $90 from the Mulberry website and leading book stores around the world. That’s a lot to spend on a book, but it’s also not exorbitant when compared to other similar publications released by high-end fashion labels. Designer clothes and handbags aren’t the only things that tend to get pricy!
