I haven’t really seen many new Mulberry designs, lately. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t been paying attention or if it’s because there’s been nothing to pay attention to. In any case, I’m glad to see this classic new Bryn bag from the British outfitter.
The color of the Bryn is really ideal. It’s a lovely bluish steel grey that they call “petrol”. I’m pretty sure petrol is actually more brown, but no matter, the color of the bag is what counts and it’s definitely a winner. The texture works well with the color to create a matte and subtly elegant bag. My favorite detail is the contrasting blue leather on the bag.
The Bryn’s design is super clean and minimal. The delicately rounded edges give the bag a soft look, but the shiny gold hardware and lack of embellishment make it look modern and extremely cosmopolitan. The design is a cross between a soft-bodied satchel and a messenger and it works well all around.
Mulberry has a real winner with the Bryn. At $1,100, it’s well priced for an investment piece and will serve you well for decades.
