Marc Jacobs has gone high tech with the launch of its first e-commerce website.
It’s hard to believe that the iconic American brand hasn’t made the foray into the world of e-sales before. At least it’s doing it in a big way now, with a site that’s fun as well as functional.
The smiling virtual doorman and sales assistants really make this place feel like home. I also like the way the site combines cute cartoon graphics with chic video footage.
The e-commerce website features a small range of products right now which has been hand-picked by Marc Jacobs’ execs. It’s an interesting approach; while it may be overwhelming to see everything Marc Jacobs has here, it does mean the site isn’t really an ultimate shopping destination.
But perhaps we should see it as more than simply a shopping site. I particularly like the “World of Marc Jacobs” section, which features news, videos from the catwalk, advertisements, and video profiles of Marc Jacobs employees.
Gadget loving girls will be happy to know the site has been optimized for the iPhone and the iPad, so they can shop for Marc Jacobs on the go. Will you take advantage of the new technology, or would you prefer to shop the old fashioned way?
