Most of us think of plastic bags as disposable items, but not Josh Blackwell. He takes humble plastic bags and surprisingly makes them eco-chic.
The plastic bag is Josh’s canvas, a blank slate for some wild embroidery. Colored thread and other decorative materials are woven about the bags to create some eye-catching looks. I’m not sure that they all work, but there’s no denying that this is art!
Who would have imagined that plastic bags could be part of the environmentally friendly movement? These Josh Blackwell bags just beg to be carried time and time again, at least until the thin plastic tears!
The plastic bags are part of an art project, so at least for now we can’t own our own. If you’re feeling creative though, use Josh Blackwell’s website for inspiration and take needle and thread to your own grocery bags. It’s a much better use for plastic bags than taking out the trash!
