Oh, Jimmy Choo, what do we do with you? Just when we think you’re on a roll with all those wave-textured bags, you come up with something cheesy, plastic, and covered in glitter. This Candy glitter clutch is pretty disco, but it lacks the sophisticated design aesthetic of some of his other bags.
Don’t let fancy terminology fool you, acrylic is just another word for plastic. This silver plastic clutch has about a ton of glitter embedded in it. It’s got a retro-futuristic vibe that is kind of cool, but all the silver is a little overkill, and the Candy comes off looking pretty cheap.
I really like how the rectangular shape has been offset by an asymmetrical triangular flap front. What I don’t understand are the embossed ridges. It looks like the fold lines on office products, and makes the Candy clutch look like a high-priced file folder. The silver stamped logo doesn’t help matters, either, it just looks like another low class touch on a cheaply-made bag.
And at $595, the Candy certainly isn’t cheap enough to warrant its cheesy aesthetic.
