Gucci is embracing the digital age with the launch of its latest iPad and iPhone app, Gucci Style by Gucci. The app feels like a glossy lifestyle magazine with its focus on strong, well written editorial content in the areas of fashion and culture.
It’s not just a whole lot of reading though. Gucci has harnessed the full capabilities of these apps to create a completely interactive experience. You can view clothes and accessories from all angles with the 360-degree feature, and watch Gucci’s artisans create the label’s famous Bamboo bag and horsebit loafers.
There’s also a mini travel guide which takes viewers from Milan to Rome to Portofino, with tips on essential luggage items and where to eat and sleep along the way. And the label’s recent collaboration with Fiat 500 is honored in a video where the label’s creative director Frida Giannini takes the Gucci customized wheels for a test drive. You can also take a sneak peek inside her vinyl record collection, which has more than 8000 retro discs! Live feeds from Gucci’s Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr accounts keeps everything feeling very up to date.
I’m predicting the Gucci Style by Gucci app could be a wonderful waste of time, in the best possible way. It’s available at the Apple App Store in eight different languages.
