Gucci removes the slouch without getting rid of the style with this aptly named Charmy hobo.
I don’t know what it is about the Charmy, but it’s somehow gotten under my skin. It shouldn’t be so impressive. While its triangular shape is interesting, and the vibrant purple shade unexpected, there isn’t much else to catch my eye. But that may be precisely what’s so compelling. The Guccissima leather, a Gucci staple, may have become too busy if fighting for the attention of hardware or embellishments. The structured shape too elevates the Charmy from casual hobo to elegant everyday accessory.
That solid structure makes the generously sized hobo more user-friendly. Without that typical slouchiness, we can easily get our goodies in and out of the expansive interior. What a shame there’s just one zippered pocket though. The addition of a handful of media pouches would have made the large purse that much more practical.
If you’ve got a Gucci budget, you might not mind the misstep. But personally I expect perfection if I’m going to spend more than a thousand dollars on a purse.
