Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld has offered us a sneak peek at the affordable goodies we can expect from his Karl by Karl Lagerfeld line. From the looks of the first photos the collection will be dominated by the black colors and clean lines Lagerfeld himself favors.
The range promises to be comprehensive, with 70 different pieces available exclusively through online shopping destination Net-A-Porter. The cheapest item will be a $50 canvas bag decorated with the image of Lagerfeld’s face, but we can expect to pay in excess of $1000 for some of the leather goodies.
I might be judging prematurely, but I’m not too fussed on the items I’ve seen thus far. I know Lagerfeld was working within a tighter budget than he’s used to, but pizzazz doesn’t cost a cent. Surely he could have injected some of his signature flair into these items. I know that they’re classic and timeless, but I’m struggling to care. I only hope Lagerfeld is waiting to surprise us with some of the real gold once the collection is officially launched.
