Etienne Aigner is celebrating its 60th anniversary with the relaunch of many retro handbags.
When the brand began, the company’s namesake began making belts from a single shade of burgundy leather. As a young designer, he reasoned that it would be cheaper to work with just one shade. The label branched out from belts to other accessories, and burgundy leather became its signature.
The Vintage Redux line features a handful of handbags originally designed in the 1960s and 1970s. They’re all crafted from that iconic burgundy leather and feature many of today’s on-trend accents like fringing, grommets, and studs. They strike that tricky balance between vintage fashion and contemporary style.
The bags are probably a little pricier than they were on their original launches, but at under $200 they’re still likely to please fans of vintage fashion. After all, they’ve got that authentic retro look without the funky thrift store smells!
