Eternal Threads is working to combat human trafficking with its handmade Lungi sling bags.
The bags are so named because they’re handcrafted from old Lungis, which are traditional garments worn by the women of Nepal. These women handcraft the conventional apparel items into these casual cross-body bags. They’re large enough to hold essentials, but the soft fabric ensures they don’t look too bulky even when they’re packed full.
The Lungi bags are affordably priced at $25 a piece, a tempting bottom line considering the good karma packaged with the accessory. Proceeds from the bags’ sales benefit organizations which help people victimized by human trafficking in Bombay’s brothel trade. These women are given a new lease on life through the counseling, education, and skills programs the charities offer.
