Many fashion labels attempt to give their accessories an equestrian feel, but few do it as convincingly as Horse+Nail. This quirky New York based label uses real horse tacks and other authentic equestrian hardware to give its collection a quirky frontier vibe.
The hardware is paired with handpicked Italian leather and detachable tassels to create purses which its creator calls “pieces of wearable art.” That creator is designer Lindsey Hufnagel, whose German surname directly translates to hoof nail. It’s an appropriate moniker as the horse represents power while the nail solidifies it.
Each Horse+Nail bag is custom made to order, so you’ll get exactly the handbag your heart desires. Of course, that attention to detail doesn’t come cheaply. Bags in the fall 2010 collection start from $1210, a significant investment for a purse from such a new designer.
A selected range of Horse+Nail bags are available online through Shopbop.com. If one of the new season styles has caught your eye, contact Horse+Nail directly.
