After all the negativity surrounding John Galliano’s recent dismissal, it’s refreshing to see some good news from the Christian Dior camp. And that came with the recent opening of the fashion house’s newly renovated Hong Kong store.
The three-storey space at One Peking Road spans some 1000 square meters. American architect Peter Marino oversaw eight months of renovations which transformed the store into a luxurious, modern boutique. The ground floor has been dubbed “World of Bags,” and it’s got just enough arm candy to warrant the title.
A spiral staircase takes you to the other levels. The first floor is home to shoes, ready-to-wear, and knit apparel, while the top is about high-end items including watches and jewelry. This final floor also has a cocktail area, which you might just need if you’ve shopped up a storm below.
As part of the store’s reopening, Christian Dior has released a handful of limited edition accessories. We’re particularly fond of the rich purple lambskin Lady Dior handbag pictured. There are just 40 of the bags available, so if you’ve fallen for it you’ll need to visit the Hong Kong store pronto.
A pair of sculptured heels, a rose decorated scarf, and a sapphire crystal and diamond decorated cell phone are also part of the limited edition line. Each one features the same lush purple color chosen to signify royalty, romance, elegance, and mystery.
