Be & D’s creative director Steve Dumain is launching a brand new accessories line through home shopping network QVC. But he insists that Roccatella isn’t a sister range to Be & D, but an entirely new collection.
“Selling on QVC is such a nice opportunity to reach a different woman,” Dumain told StyleList. “This line is for a modern, chic woman who wants the feeling of a particular trend, but without too much of that trend.“
Dumain may have named Roccatella after his 98-year-old grandmother, but he’s not looking to reach the elderly fashion sector with these purses. Instead they’re aimed at a more mature woman who still knows how to have fun.
She’ll have nine different handbags to choose from, including satchels, hobos, and totes. Each is made from quality calfskin, and kitted out with convenient front pockets, polished hardware, pocket mirrors, and key leashes. That’s a whole lot of value considering these purses retail between $200 and $300. It’s really hard to see why the Be & D bags cost so much more, isn’t it?
Roccatella will make its debut on QVC on Thursday at 7 pm before being rolled out to other retailers in spring 2011.
