She’s got quite a following for her deliciously luxurious handbags and unique style sensibility, but Anya Hindmarch is branching out a bit and trying her hand at something a little different these days.
We’ve just found out that the designer, who has done everything from collaborating with Target for a diffusion line and creating that oh-so-recognizable “I’m Not a Plastic Bag” tote, will be working on a small project with the well-known British fashion brand Barbour. Barbour’s collections include clothing for men, women, and children as well as handbags and accessories.
Surprisingly, however, it’s not a line of bags that Anya Hindmarch is set to work on for the label. Instead, the designer is stepping out of her normal fashion zone and trying her hand at ladieswear. She’ll be working with Barbour to create a small collection of outerwear jackets for the brand.
“Barbour is an iconic British brand and part of my childhood. The feel and smell of a Barbour waxed jacket is something that evokes home, family and country weekends. I can’t wait to have mine so I can look less like a ‘pavement girl’ in the country,” Anya told Grazia yesterday.
No word yet on when the range will be released. We can rest assured, though, that with this designer’s talent, it’s sure to be stylish and maybe just a bit out of the ordinary.
