It seems that the recent brewing rumors about her questionable job security might have finally made an impact on the infamously unflappable Ms. Wintour. The renowned editor of Vogue magazine has allowed Morley Safer of CBS’ long-running 60 Minutes to accompany her to some high-profile fashion week events including the Ralph Lauren runway show in New York City.
Safer must be the envy of reporters and fashion followers everywhere seeing as he has gotten exclusive interviews with Anna Wintour and gained entry to several prominent parties. The seasoned correspondent, who has been with 60 Minutes for nearly thirty-nine seasons, was a little out of his element with this assignment’s duties, though.
“It’s kind of a blur for me, and I am ignorant of the minutia,” he said. “It’s not my regular beat, you understand.”
Perhaps pairing Wintour with 77-year old Safer is an attempt to make her appear young and hip to everyone. Time will tell whether or not the upcoming special about the fashion editor will help or hurt her future with the renowned magazine.
