French designer Amalia Mattaor has reinvented the shoulder bag with her clever nightclub ready Dancing Bags.
The unusual purses were designed with keen club hoppers in mind. They strap onto the shoulder, keeping your essentials safe without restricting your mobility on the dance floor. The futuristic, fierce designs are really like an extension of the body, and would look gorgeous paired with edgy nightclub attire.
The Dancing Bags are made from leather, but the skin is more eco-conscious than the average. Most skins come from edible fish, including salmon and eel, so there’s no waste of the animals. These materials are as soft and comfortable as their more traditional cowhide and lambskin counterparts, but they’re much more sustainable.
I love the look of these glamorous, rebellious bags but I can’t help worrying that they won’t do exactly what they say on the tin. I’m not sure what’s to stop many of them sliding down your arm when you’re really grooving. Perhaps you’d have to strap them on really tightly, but that doesn’t seem comfortable.
Amalia Mattaor’s Dancing Bags are available at Showroom Fabre in Paris, France, and The Nexus Townhouse and Showroom New York. I can’t find any prices online, which suggests to me that you’re bound to pay a pretty penny for these innovative accessories!
