Yarnz Tote

Yarnz ToteNew York-based scarf specialist Yarnz has recently added handbags to its flourishing fashion collection.

The durable accessories are made from leather coated rubber, so they have the appearance of more luxurious purses without the hefty prices. It’s an interesting take on the jelly tote trend, but one that’s got a bit more substance and likely longevity.

The new Yarnz handbags are adorned with the same patterns found on the label’s cashmere scarves. I wondered whether carrying a purse with the same print as your kerchief would seem a little too matchy-matchy, but the idea has some merit. After all, the handbag patterns appear on a flat plane, while the ones on the scarves take on a more abstract look once they’re knotted and twisted. The photograph here gives us some idea of how the concept could work in the real world. And how much fun is it to see a houndstooth inspired print with some real artistic hounds?

Some of the world’s most stylish celebrities including Scarlett Johansson, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Madonna have been spotted wearing Yarnz scarves. Do you think they’ll be just as enthusiastic about the label’s totes?

Yarnz’s new handbags start at $250 from high end department stores including Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue, Takashirnaya, Liberty of London, and Isetan.
