Vera Bradley Purse Saves Shooting Victim | Fashion Retailer Replaces Bullet-Hole Bag

If I were planning to count on a handbag for my protection, I might opt for an Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster clutch. I’d never put my faith in a Vera Bradley. But it seems I might have underestimated this feminine fashion brand. After all, Baltimore shooting victim Ana Matheus might not be with us today if it wasn’t for her Vera Bradley purse.

Ana got caught in the path of some stray bullets outside the East Baltimore medical institution on Tuesday night. A bullet struck her co-worker’s hand, but Ana got lucky. A bullet tore through her Vera Bradley bag, her checkbook, a credit card, and a $20 bill. But remarkably, she escaped the ordeal without a scratch.

Staff at Greenstreet Gardens, a Vera Bradley retailer, were so touched by the story they’ve offered to replace Ana’s handbag, free of charge. I’m sure Ana’s still quite shaken up by the ordeal, but the store’s generosity should help her put this terrifying experience behind her.
