Unnur’s Sea Leather Handbags | Purses Made from Fish

Unnur Katrin Bag

Unnur Katrin BagThere’s something just a little bit fishy about the purses from Unnur, an Icelandic label which crafts its handbags from “sea leather.”

Designer Unnur Fridriksdottir uses the skins of farm-grown Icelandic salmon and African perch to create her modern purses. While the approach might not please animal lovers, as the fish are farm grown the business is completely sustainable.

You needn’t worry about the purses being on the nose either. They smell just like regular leather, and only looks better with age. I’m particularly taken with the elegant stripes and structured trapezoidal shape of this Katrin bag. Which one is your favourite?

Unnur isn’t merely the name of brand and designer; it’s also Icelandic for “the waves of the ocean.” Considering the source of these handbags, the name is pretty appropriate don’t you think?

Unnur’s unique sea leather handbags are available to bagistas everywhere through the brand’s online store.
