Twiggy Slams Use of Fur in London Fashion Week

Posted on: Feb 28

Sharon Osbourne isn't the only British star taking a stand against the use of fur in fashion. Twiggy has joined the chorus, slamming designers using real fur in London Fashion Week.

The America's Next Top Model judge is also the face of PETA's latest ad campaign, which features the provocative slogan "If You Wouldn't Wear Your Dog, Please Don't Wear Any Fur."

"I am very sad that some designers are still using real fur when the fake alternatives are so effective and so easily obtainable," she recently said. "These poor animals are kept in such terrible and inhumane conditions. Is it really worth this cruelty just for fashion's sake? I don't think so."

I must say that I agree with her. I'm an easily taken in by a furry bag as the next person, but I probably couldn't tell the difference between an authentic pelt and a very convincing fake. When the alternatives are so good, why indulge in fur?
