Swiss Handbag Designer Ira Grant Goes Green with Sacs Bio Bags

34 sec read

With her Sacs Bio collection, Swiss designer Ira Grant easily marries style with eco-friendly practices.

All bags from the line are hand-crafted from natural, organic, and rapidly renewable materials. Leather is used sparingly for accents and embellishments, but it’s always sourced from the off cuts of Ira’s regular line.

Ira makes all the bags in her smoke and pet free home in the Swiss lakeside town of Neuchatel. She’s very hands on, designing the accessories, creating the patterns, cutting the pieces, and sewing them together. That back to basics approach is so refreshing in the modern handbag world.

I’ve viewed both collections, and honestly I don’t feel like you really lose anything by opting for the eco-friendly alternative. Jute, organic cotton, and burlap might not be as luxurious as all-leather, but the fabrics are high quality and much more stylish and green than a cheap synthetic.

Ira Grant’s Sacs Bio bags are available from her Etsy store and sustainable shopping website Cosa Verde.
