Rare Kathrine Baumann Betty Boop Minaudiere Given Away to Goodwill

They say one man’s trash is another’s treasure, but it’s almost certain that the person who donated a Betty Boop purse to a Goodwill store in Kettering didn’t realize the rare gem they were giving up.

The jewel-encrusted minaudiere was one of only 2,500 handcrafted by Kathrine Baumann Beverly Hills. The designer is a favorite with stylish celebs including Madonna, Cher, Jennifer Aniston, and Brooke Shields.

Someone recognized right away that this purse was very unique,” said Mari Jo Sellers, marketing/communications specialist for Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley. “We have a process whereby anything deemed valuable or collectable is sent to headquarters and processed there. Most of those items go to shopgoodwill.com but because the purse had a collector’s number on it, we decided to harness the power of eBay.

It’s anyone’s guess how much this limited edition purse will fetch, as the designer’s regular accessories ordinarily cost thousands. If you’d like to add it to your collection though, click here to find it on eBay. But be quick, there’s only a little over a week to get your bids in!
