Nina Ricci Continues to Impress without Olivier Theyskens

Though some fashion followers were shocked by the recent departure of Olivier Theyskens from design house Nina Ricci, things are looking up for the company. With the sometimes edgy creative director out, the brand is marching full steam ahead to a style that combines classic and unique.

Fans of Nina Ricci won’t be surprised by this switcheroo and probably won’t be one bit upset either. By the looks of their latest handbag collection, recently launched at London’s Dover Street Market, the company won’t be slowing down any time soon. They’ve even devised a new horseshoe-shaped motif, which style accessories director Juha Marttila explained.

We wanted to find a motif – a logo that wasn’t too obvious – that is how we developed the twisted bread shape,” Marttila explained. “This will be a motif we will carry on for the coming seasons, it will become associated with the label.”

I’d expect this new hand-crafted, classic look to go very well for them. In the days that shoppers are choosing timeless over trendy, Nina Ricci seems to know what a gal wants.
