Michael Kors Video for It Gets Better Project | Gay Handbag Designer Talks About High School Experiences

35 sec read

Handbag designer Michael Kors is the latest big name to lend his voice to the It Gets Better Project.

For those out of the loop, the It Gets Better Project was formulated in September following a spate of teen suicides. The victims were gay teen boys, taunted and tortured by their peers due to their sexuality.

The initiative, spearheaded by journalist Dan Savage and driven by the support of gay teen suicide hotline The Trevor Project, reminds other young people that life in fact does get better. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual, or just a little bit different; no one should ever feel like they are less than anyone else.

By lending his voice and describing his own high school experiences, hopefully Michael Kors can inspire a troubled teen to take one day at a time. His point that his difference allows him to be a fabulous designer resonated with me, and hopefully it’ll strike a similar chord with someone who really needs to hear the message.
