Lowell Makes Bra Purses | Lingerie Becomes Handbags for Breast Cancer Awareness

Posted on: Oct 1

Bra PurseThe folks at Lowell General Hospital in Massachusetts are raising breast cancer awareness in a creative and fashionable way with their Support The Girls program.

Many women from the hospital's Breast Cancer Support Group have used bras to make cute purses. You can see these unusual handbags online at the Lowell General Hospital Gallery, or in person at the city's New England Quilt Museum.

"The Bra Purse: Carrying a Message of Inspiration and Courage" exhibition opens today and runs until October 29. It features more than two dozen purses at this point, but more will be added as community members get involved with the initiative. It will then tour America, raising awareness of breast cancer in other cities around the country.

Lowell General Hospital is encouraging everyone, no matter which part of the world they live, to create their own bra purse and spread the word. Just think of the conversations you’ll inspire when you post a picture of your purse on Facebook, or carry it to your next party!

This is a really fun way to spread the word during breast cancer awareness month. Is there a bra in your dresser with purse potential?
