Kotur Mortimer Tote

Kotur Mortimer ToteKotur first made its foray into larger handbags in the middle of this year. There were just a couple of these luxurious creatures to choose from, rendered in metallic haircalf and authentic python. I coveted them, but could never justify their high prices. So I’m thrilled to see that Kotur’s next collection will feature more affordable day bags.

While the original Kotur day bags were priced between $600 and $2000, the new batch are set to cost between $264 and $300. The materials aren’t quite as luxe of course, but the brand uses Balinese straw and leather well. It also uses exotic skins for the trim, handles, and piping to give the range an appealing day-to-night versatility.

There are often many handbags that a woman needs during the course of the day, and now she can use these new styles day-into-evening or just pack a smaller one inside a tote for later,” explained Fiona Kotur, the label’s designer and owner.

With many households still smarting after the global recession, it’s great to see Kotur offering a range of day bags that are more attainable than their last. Look for them soon at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Kotur’s online store.
