Jimmy Choo Sweetie Printed Acrylic Clutch

Jimmy Choo Sweetie Printed Acrylic ClutchJust when I think my relationship with Jimmy Choo has been repaired he goes and does something terrible. His usually highbrow designs sometimes drift into questionable territory, and I’m afraid that this is one of those times. This Sweetie clutch is anything but sweet from where I’m standing.

Let’s get this bag’s issues out of the way. The print is atrocious. It looks like something a twelve year old girl thinks is cool. It’s black and pink and this up close guitar shot is just not going to cut it for most adults. Honestly, I could go on and on about this. I just can’t imagine what Mr. Choo was thinking. The only celebrity I can imagine carrying this is Avril Lavigne, and let’s be honest, she isn’t really known for her impeccable taste.

If you ignore the print and color palette, the acrylic clutch is pretty cool on its own. I like the slatted, accordion-like design, and the simplicity of the shape. Plus, acrylic is about as durable as handbag materials get. I’m not sure it’s a particularly high design choice, but then again, it might just be that print distracting me again.

I can’t think of a more terrible way to spend $895. Unless you’re going to buy it and remake it into ironic art, you should probably just give that money to charity if it’s burning a hole in your pocket.
