This Whiting & Davis design is truly a unique find. With its combination of texture, material, and vibrant color, the Lizzy Clutch makes for one fun, little evening bag.

The overall silhouette is fairly typical for a clutch. However, the structured and geometric v-shaped closure and bottom panel that meet in the middle combined with slightly gathered panels on the sides provides an interesting contrast.

It's the use of material that makes the Lizzy stand out, though. The sides are constructed with Whiting & Davis' signature metal mesh that gives the brand its undeniable vintage vibe. When that mesh meets up with lizard-embossed leather, however, the design takes on an appealing contemporary twist.

You can get the Lizzy Clutch in a neutral silvery gray, but the turquoise and hot pink choices definitely have more personality and really set of the contrasting textures. Plus, the pop of color is right on trend for cocktail parties and other dressy events this season. This Whiting & Davis handbag retails for $150.

Charles David Zelda Clutch | Haircalf and Leather Handbag with Lizard Print

Charles David has an impressive selection of stylish shoes, but the brand's handbags make equally dramatic statements and are worth considering if you're looking for shopping for quality in a mid-price range.

The label is no stranger to animal print material, so this Zelda handbag with a leopard-printed haircalf inset doesn't surprise me one bit. Statement bags are big this season, which makes this bold clutch a great option for staying on trend during the fall.

Although I'm really not a huge fan of animal print or haircalf material on a purse, I'm somewhat drawn to the mixture of textures on this Charles David design. The middle haircalf inset is flanked by a lizard-embossed leather border and smooth leather body.

This oversized clutch has simple cutout handles commonly seen on bags of this type, but also features a detachable shoulder strap that gives you an additional option for carrying. If you like the style but really aren't a fan of animal print, the Zelda is available in a beautiful blend of grays as well as a berry red color.

Yves Saint Laurent Customizes Roady in Los Angeles and New York

Yves Saint Laurent's latest "It" bag, the Roady, shot to fame on the arms of glamorous celebs like Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue, and Leighton Meester. Now the in-demand purse will get a personalized makeover for shoppers in America's fashion capitals, Los Angeles and New York City.

The Roady already comes in a variety of shapes and colors, including black nappa and vibrant red and blue leathers. But Yves Saint Laurent artesan furriers will further customize the bags this month. Roady lovers can jazz up the handles with colored exotic skins, including ostrich, crocodile, and lizard. The lizard is the bargain option at $225, the ostrich will cost $385, and the crocodile clocks in at $515. To further add value, Yves Saint Laurent staff will also embroider your initials inside your Roady for nix.

The customized Roady bags are available in YSL's Los Angeles and New York boutiques from November 19 to December 1.

Elaine Turner Madison Pouchette | Small Shoulder Bag with Embossed Tortoise Finish

Why should snake and crocodile get all the accolades? Elaine Turner serves up a different kind of exotic with its Madison Pouchette.

Of course, Elaine Turner doesn't dabble in genuine exotics. Instead it's merely embossed the leather with a tortoise-shell finish. The scales are large and irregular, giving the purse a contemporary finish. Under the hands of a lesser designer, this modern texture may seem at odds with the Madison's retro design. Yet somehow the traditional flap and vintage curves work in harmony with this unique surface.

This is a small bag, more suited to a coffee with the girls than a day full of errands. But there are a few pockets inside to keeps your essentials in order. The signature pink crown lining is also a bit of fun.

$350 seems a little pricey for a purse that's so small, especially one that's made from embossed exotic rather than the real thing. But if you have the cash to spare, the Madison does offer a look that you won't see anywhere else.

Preview Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2009 Collection of Handbags | Exotics and Tweeds Galore

When you think luxury handbags, Chanel is bound to be one of the brands that pops into mind. The fashion label is synonymous with timeless, must-have purses.

Although there are a few signature chain link straps to be seen here, a few of the detail might surprise Chanel lovers. Overall, though, the theme of cooler weather and winter fashion is fairly obvious with the styles from the colors to the choice of fabrics.

The most overtly fall fashion fabric in the bunch is tweed, and there seems to be a bit of it with this collection. The heavy material might be seasonally appropriate, but I'm not sure that the addition of a leather strap was the best choice. If I didn't expect gold chain link from the brand, the leather detail probably wouldn't be an issue. However, it just doesn't shine as much as I'd like.

Of course, it's not luxury designer fashion without some exotic materials. The fall/winter 09 bag collection also includes metallic lizard, quilted python, and pastel galuchat handbags. I'm impressed but not overwhelmed by the designs. However, Chanel is Chanel, after all, and nearly impossible to go wrong with.

Fossati Creates Luxury Limited Edition Lizard Bridal Bags

Rebecca Minkoff isn't the only one recognizing the hole in the bridal bag industry. The latest label looking to fill the gap is Fossati.

The brand looks to create "a limited-edition evening bag that would work for any special occasion but especially cater to brides on their wedding day."

While Rebecca Minkoff may have the big designer name, Fossati's accessories offer a little more luxury. Its wedding line is the result of a collaboration with renowned bridal and fine arts photographer, Laurie Tennent.

The Venice Evening Bag, a bridal favorite, pairs silver hardware with hand-picked lizard skin. The exotic leather is the ideal accompaniment for that big white dress, but after the ceremony it’d work just as well with everyday evening attire or even blue jeans.

"We wanted to create a limited-edition evening bag that would work for any special occasion but especially cater to brides on their wedding day," explained designer Catherine Fossati Healey. "Every bride should have an exquisite handbag that compliments her wedding couture and is exquisite enough to pass on to her daughter."

Anyone who's ever planned a wedding knows bridal attire is never cheap. So perhaps it's not so surprising to see the Fossati bags priced at almost $1000. That's a big chunk of change, but unlike the ideal wedding dress we can at least use it after the big day's done!

Elie Tahari Elysha Clutch | Yellow Leather Turnlock Purse

Like so many of us, Elie Tahari seems enamored with turnlock closures. We saw the feature in his Tamar satchel, and now it’s available in hand-held form in the Elysha clutch.

When I reviewed the Tamar I mentioned that the closure's size and complementary finish gave it a gaudy, overdone appearance. Sadly, the same is true here. I can't help comparing it to the delicate turnlocks we saw on Bulgari's lizard clutch or even Treesje's Mortale clutch. Who would have thought that skull-covered creation could ever be held up as an example of restraint?

It's a shame that the turnlock is so overwhelming, and so poorly executed, because that summery yellow pebbled leather is really quite lovely. It's unfortunate that its supporting players are so distracting.

But it's not just the turnlock. That stitching is also underwhelming. It reminds me of the tacking stitch my mother used to sew to hold things in place, the kind you'd take out later. This stitch has the same kind of temporary feel, giving the impression that the Elysha isn't quite finished.

The exterior is even more disappointing because the interior packs a real organizational wallop. We've come to expect zip pockets and slip pockets, but the Elysha goes above and beyond. A pen pocket and cell phone slip add more functionality than I'd expect for the size.

But no one buys a clutch for what it looks like inside, do they? If practicality's the name of the game, the Elysha might be your dream purse. If you're looking for something functional to hide inside a hot oversized handbag, be my guest. I'll keep searching for something cuter.

Bulgari Lizard Clutch | Luxurious Emerald Green Evening Purse

Bulgari can effortlessly add a little luxury to your evening ensemble with this breathtaking lizard clutch.

Snake and crocodile skins may get all the accolades, but the small lizard scales have a delicate look which really catches the eye. The emerald green has a graduated ombre pattern, which is subtle, yet striking. It may not immediately strike you as practical, but just think of the pop of color this shade could bring. And if navy can be classed as neutral these days, why not a deep green?

The traditional box shape and flap design allows the lush lizard to take center stage. A shiny gold turnlock closure is the only accent, providing security and style.

The turnlock clasp opens to reveal an interior which is long, but far too slender to be really practical. Keep the luxuries at home ladies, apply a color-stay lipstick before you leave, and you should manage to squeeze in everything you need for a night out.

Of course, this kind of luxury never comes cheap. Most of us will have to think long and hard before spending more than $1500 on a purse that's strictly an after five affair. But it's so gorgeous that I'm tempted nonetheless!

Balenciaga Brilliant Pouchette Bague | Geometric Black Lizard Leather Clutch

Nothing's as slick and stylish as patent-shine lizard leather. Balenciaga has managed to make it even chicer with shiny silver studded plate hardware on the front of their Brilliant Pouchette Bague.

Horizontal seams and a thin vertical strap flap add to the geometric look of the bag, which is modern and fresh.

Even the interior is leather, and features an open pocket and two compartments. I'm not sure how much they'll hold with the 1.5 inch depth of the clutch, but this piece really isn't about practicality, is it?

Adding to the impracticality is the price tag: $2,675. You're obviously paying for a piece of Nicholas Ghesquiere's vision for Balenciaga, not the 6 x 6.5 inch clutch. And for those who can afford this bag, I'm sure that's just fine.
