I normally throw my support behind any new eco-friendly bags, but I must admit that this Baggu line has me scratching my head.

The brand has taken its popular reusable shopper and added a president. I'm not quite sure who would want to carry a shopper with the screen printed face of Abraham Lincoln on it, but those patriotic history lovers are sure to be pleased.

Like all Baggu bags, this limited edition Lincoln shopper is made from ripstop nylon. This fabric is lightweight, and guaranteed not to tear when carrying cans and other groceries weighing up to 25 pounds. It big enough to hold the equivalent of two or three plastic bags, but folds up into a 5 x 5 inch pouch, so you can stash it away in your handbag or pocket. Supermarket spills are no problem, as this Baggu bag is machine washable.

At $12, this Baggu bag works out to be more expensive than the brand's typical multipacks. But it is a little more fun than the traditional single-color options.

I've seen many designers attempt to reinvent the popular hobo handbag, but none have done it quite like Sondra Roberts.

The slouchy, relaxed profile we've come to expect is gone, replaced by a structured curved body. But the bohemian vibe isn't abandoned entirely, with natural canvas and twine fabrics woven together for an earthy feel. I love the wide vertical stripes created by the complementary fibers. The materials are casual, but the curved leather piping dresses things up a little. It's never going to be red carpet ready, but if you pair it with the right outfit it'd definitely suit a dinner date.

It's also got the space to make that day-to-night transition. You could easily carry a change of clothes and the cosmetics case you need to make the switch! There's also space for the essentials, with two open top pockets taking care of your gadgets and a zippered pocket for loose change and valuables.

I'm not sure the choice of natural fibers quite justifies the $310 retail price, but at least this purse has the style and quality craftsmanship to last a few seasons.

With the winter holiday season rapidly approaching, it's time to start thinking about the perfect party accessories. Glittery clutches are always appropriate for dressy holiday events, and any of Santi's options are sure to make a statement.

This Santi Blake clutch, with its black and silver pattern and shimmering body, reminds me quite a bit of the Whiting & Davis Chevron Jelly Roll bag. Although Whiting & Davis's creation is made from metal mesh and Santi favors sequins and satin, the patterns on the two handbags are strikingly similar.

I'm not sure that sequins are the best option since they aren't known for being particularly sturdy. The metal mesh on the Chevron Jelly Roll might be a better option for durability. However, Santi's clutches aren't cheaply made, and the Blake will most likely hold up just fine with light use during special events.

Although slim in design, this Santi bag is a decent size for a party clutch since bare necessities are all that's required. There's even a handy optional chain strap that tucks in neatly when not in use. I prefer the look of this sequined clutch without the strap, but it's nice to have the option available.

This is one Whiting & Davis handbag that doesn't make me automatically think of a bygone era. Well, that's not entirely true, I suppose, since it does have a certain '70s disco vibe going on with it. However, in comparison to some of the brand's truly vintage-inspired designs, this Cross-Body Dance Bag certainly stands apart.

The material is nothing new for Whiting & Davis, though. Brass mesh is definitely its fabric of choice when crafting handbag designs. I, for one, am completely supportive of the unique style it gives their bags, but I'm just not sure if this one in particular hits the mark for me.

There's something almost overly simple about the Cross-Body Dance, but that might be what will throw others off about it as well. I'm spoiled by Whiting & Davis' interesting screenprints and abstract shapes, as we've seen on the Ribbon hobo or the Chevron Jelly Roll clutch. This one just seems a little plain when compared to those.  

It certainly can't be accused of having a lack of shimmer or color, though. It might be one solid shade, but the shiny mesh practically lights up the purple, magenta, red, or midnight blue options.

The long, skinny cross-body strap is removable, allowing you to carry the Dance Bag as a clutch if you wish. I guess that would work if you're wanting a more formal look as opposed to the somewhat casual cross-body style. However, the perfectly square shape makes it a little awkward to carry in one hand. I'd stick with using this Whiting & Davis handbag for less dressy events where a slinky cross-body is considered appropriate.

Patchwork isn't always a handbag design feature that I love, but the look can be stunning when it's done well. Without a doubt, some of my favorite patchwork leather bags come from designer brand Miu Miu.

The price range of Prada's younger sister company isn't for everyone, though. Although Steve Madden's line of handbags certainly can't compare in quality to Miu Miu's, the price tags are much more comfortable for the average female shopper. This patchwork Peace of Mind hobo is certainly attainable for most budgets with its under-$100 cost.

The chevron-shaped pattern of the patchwork is interesting and a great visual feature for the purse. I like how the muted gray and brown blends well with the black color but creates enough contrast to showcase the shapes. This is a great way to incorporate a unique pattern into your wardrobe without feeling like you're going overboard. It's perfect for women who prefer an understated look combined with interesting detail.

Like Miu Miu's leather patchwork, this Steve Madden synthetic version is a modern take on the design style. The long single strap is in proportion with the hobo bag's large size. The Peace of Mind's open interior is great for stuffing with all kinds of everyday items with some space leftover for extras.

I can't help but think of the 1920s and flapper fashion when I see this Whiting & Davis handbag. The brand always manages to register a vintage vibe with me, as I think is the case with most people, but this one really stands out.

Maybe I'm just filled with jazz era imagery after having just finished reading Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella, but the Chevron's blend of colors and distinct zigzag pattern definitely seem to carry that style. Whiting & Davis' signature use of brass metal mesh actually dates back to that time period. However, their vintage-inspired bags of today are just as relevant in current fashion.

Most of the brand's designs are what you'd carry on an evening out, generally to accessorize a dressy outfit and a pair of killer heels. The Chevron Jelly Roll Clutch is no exception. This is the type of bag that adds some glitter and shine to a little black dress.

Although it is equally pretty in multi-gold or silver, this combination in black and silver is particularly stunning to me. It's not something you'll see everyone else around you carrying, which makes it perfect for gals who prefer a unique look. This clutch easily switches to a shoulder bag with its long, snake chain strap.

If the jelly roll style isn't the cat's meow for you, you can also get the Chevron pattern in a framed clutch or cross-body version. The jelly roll clutch retails for $145.

Bulgari dresses up the traditional canvas tote with this treat from its 1910 collection.

The natural toned chevron canvas is adorned with an art deco design and decorative script. The black pattern is accented by nut wrinkled calf leather trim. It really dresses up the tote, but it's not likely to be well received by animal lovers. Canvas bags are synonymous with green chic, but that design feature undermines the message.

It also sends the tote's price sky high. Even on eBay it's priced close to $800 big ones. For a canvas bag, that’s a whole chunk of change.

Thankfully it comes with more pockets than the average. An interior zip pocket, plus a couple of multifunction pouches do boost the value somewhat. And any purse so expensive deserves a dustbag, so it's nice to see one included here.

But the fact remains; this is one expensive canvas tote. Cashed up fashionistas may love to wear their Bulgari love over the shoulder while at the markets, but the rest of us can probably think of better uses for that much dough!

G by Guess, the cheaper sister brand of handbag guru, Guess, has produced a great summer showstopper just in time for the blockbuster season.

This little clutch glistens in silver snakeskin python fabric, and is also available in a more subtle and situation friendly black. The silver, however, really shows of the vintage inspired rough and distressed fabric - high in style, but thankfully still affordable.

The envelope style clutch is very on trend. Every red carpet at this summer's big hits has been full of these practical yet style-hungry designs, and so far, everyone loves them! So if you are traipsing to the cinema to see Transformers 2, or the latest rom-com, this is the date bag to set you on your way.

I do wish that this feminine purse had an optional handle, just to add ease and practicality. Whilst the wrist handle is lovely, two alternatives are always good! What it lacks in handles, however, it makes up for in looks.

As the financial crisis takes hold, all eyes are on designers like Kotur who somehow manage to produce exotic purses while keeping their prices down. Snakeskin purses often cost thousands, but for just $619 you can snag this gorgeous Riddick clutch.

There's no imitation python here. The Riddick is made from patches of authentic Ayers snakeskin pieced together to form a gorgeous chevron pattern. The predominantly white purse is complemented by glamorous swatches of metallic silver and gold.

The Riddick closes with a signature Ascher crystal clasp. The effect is reminiscent of the vintage clutches Hollywood beauties like Bette Davis and Ingrid Bergman carried in the 1940s, one of pure understated elegance.

Miu Miu has cornered the market on the patchwork bag fashion trend. At least, it certainly seems that way. The designer offers what can only be described as a plethora of purses created with this intricate technique.

However, this Nappa Patchwork Hobo could not be more opposite from the recently reviewed Chevron handbag, which has a Chanel flavor to it. This Miu Miu definitely has a dinstinct style. It could be compared to one of its other Miu Miu sister bags, the Harlequin hobo. Like the Harlequin, the Nappa Patchwork purse has a slight circus feel with its colorful leather pieces in various shades of pink, red, purple, and brown.

I find myself a bit undecided about the style of this hobo, though. It is unique, which is admirable, but something seems a little off. The symmetry of the Harlequin patches has a gorgeous effect, but the Nappa's patchwork is much more random. The irregular placement of the material is somewhat offset by the structured shape of the bag. It has a certain appeal but probably isn't everyone's idea of a classic. Perhaps I stand alone in my hesitation of this one, but it does grow on me a little the more I see it. Maybe it should be viewed like a piece of abstract art with a type of beauty that can be appreciated but requires a specific taste to own.

It does have nice details like the buckled leather straps on each side and the o-rings connected to the handle. The signature Miu Miu logo breaks up the leather material on the front. If you love the style but wish it stood out even more, the Nappa Patchwork Hobo also comes in an even more eye-catching color combination of black, fuschia, red, gray, and brown.
