Gucci Releases Expensive Designer Cruiser Bicycle

Gucci has responded to Chanel's Segway with its own two-wheeler: a luxury cruiser bicycle.

The bike sports Gucci accents all over, but it's still surprisingly tasteful. The bronze metal frame is the ideal complement to the chocolate brown Guccissima leather seat, handlebars, seat pack, and pannier. I don't even mind the white signature logo and Gucci text on the pannier. It's remarkably restrained, and an elegant and eco-friendly way to get around.

But there's always a catch, right? And like so many Gucci accessories, it's the price. At $6365, this bike is out of the reach of all but heiresses and Hollywood celebs. And let's face it: they aren't likely to want to break a sweat pedaling about when they could simply hop in a limo.

So the rest of us are left wondering what on earth justifies the price. Sure the seat pack looks like a beautiful handbag, and the leather touches are a little more luxurious than anything on my own bicycle. But at least I can happily hop on my two-wheeler without worrying that I'll blow a tire!
